President meets Vietnamese Prime Minister


(KPL) Laos and Vietnam pledge to upgrade the value of the two-way trade to 1 billion USD by 2010, 2 billion USD by 2015 and 5 billion USD by 2020.
The pledge was made by President Choummaly Sayasone of Laos and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung of Vietnam during their meeting in the Lao capital of Vientiane.
President Choummaly received at his office in Vientiane a courtesy visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung who arrived here on 30 March to attend the third summit of the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS).
During the talks, President Choummaly Sayasone who is also Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, and Vietnamese Prime Minister Dung expressed satisfaction over the recent fast-growing development of effective and practical bilateral relations in economy, trade and investment.
They pledged to upgrade the value of the two-way trade to 1 billion USD by 2010, 2 billion USD by 2015 and 5 billion USD by 2020.
They agreed to speed up cooperation and investment projects in hydropower, mining, industrial crop cultivation and trans-national transport.
On this occasion, President Choummaly Sayasone also praised and highly valued the visit to Laos of Vietnamese Prime Minister Dung as a big contribution to further strengthening the special friendly relation and all-round co-operation between the two parties, states and people of Laos and Vietnam.
